On the occasion of World Environment Day (5th June), a group of cyclists decided to spread awareness by planting seeds and spreading awareness on limited usage of natural resources along the coastal route of Panvel(Maharashtra) to Panjim(Goa) in 10 days. The highlight of the journey is not just the tiresome ride in this unbearable heat but also the youngest person in the team, Rohit Awsar who is just 12 years old.
The team consists of some stalwarts like Ms. Prisiliya Madan who did a solo trip on cycle from Panvel to Kanyakumari in 19 days. As a matter of fact, she was in news last year for her journey from Kanyakumari to Khardungla Pass riding a bamboo cycle for 3000 kms along with Mr. Sumit Paringe. He himself, is a well-known cyclist who has also cycled from Panvel to Siachen in 2014 in 43 days. Then, there is also Mr. Dhananjay Madan, who rode a cycle from Panvel to Orissa and also rode in Europe. He has also a well-known trekker who has trekked the entire Sahyadri region.
The entire journey is going to take about 10 days and the cyclists are going to visit a few beaches and some forts to plant the seeds and spread awareness. The team is of more than 10 people with some of the most experienced people in cycling.
We only hope that the journey is safe and enjoyable for everybody, including the youngest boy in the team, Rohit Awsar.
We, at Olio, salute and respect this hard work and will continue to appreciate the hard work put in by the team. Cheers!
